Mercury had two life long relationships:

 

 

1. During the 70’s he was in  a relationship with a spouse - Mary Austin, who later became his soul mate.

 

 

2. In 1985 he started a relationship with Jim Houghton, with whom he lived for six years of his life (who was at his side when he died).

Mercury has never admitted what were his sexual preferences and therefore the question of sexual orientation remains open to this day.

Freddie Mercury died on November 24, 1991 at his home in Kensington in the presence of close friends. He was 45. The cause of death was pneumonia as a result of AIDS.

 

Although he did not want a traditional ceremony, Mercury's funeral was passed by a Zarathustra priest. He was cremated, and no one knows where it is dispersed, although some claim on Lake Geneva, or in his parents' house. The remaining members of “Queen” founded the "Foundation's Phoenix Mercury" fighting AIDS, and in 1992, a year after his death, organized the "Mercury's charity show “, whose purpose was to commemorate the life of Mercury and expand awareness about AIDS.
